About Sue

Dr. Susan Workman has worked in K-12 public education for 35 years. Starting her career as a speech-language pathologist, she taught at the middle school level, supervised a special education program that served students ages 5-21 in a special education cooperative, was a Director of Special Education for a K-12 school district, an elementary school principal and a superintendent for 10 years.

Dr. Workman attended Illinois State University where she obtained a Bachelor Degree and a Master Degree in Speech-Language Pathology; Northern Illinois University where she obtained her Administrative Type 75 and Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership.

She has conducted presentations for Institute Days and workshops for teachers. Dr. Workman has completed a series of webinars for the Illinois Principal Association (IPA) ELN Network on Professional Learning Communities and teaches online and face to face Administrator Academy courses for IPA focusing on Professional Learning Communities.

Dr. Workman has worked with school districts (Benton Consolidated HS, Reed-Custer HS, District #255U, Warrensburg-Latham District #11, Fox Lake #114, McHenry HS District#156, Huntley School District #158, LockportHS #205) and Regional Offices of Education in Illinois, mostly on the implementation of Professional Learning Communities.

She has been an adjunct instructor for Northern Illinois University, teaching masters level and doctoral level classes in Educational Leadership.

Throughout her 35 years in education, Dr. Workman has successfully coached numerous teacher candidates, teachers and administrators on obtaining teaching and administrative positions and influencing their career paths.
